What do Y10, Y12 and Y16 mean?
The Y marks a high-tensile deformed bar and the number is its diameter in millimetres – so Y12 is a 12 mm bar. Larger bars carry more load and are used in columns, beams and foundations; smaller bars are used for stirrups and slabs.
