Your trust matters to us. Whether you ask for a quote, order steel or apply for a job, we handle your personal information carefully, use it only for the reasons explained below and keep it secure.

01Who we are

This website, shanju.co, is run by Shanju Investment Limited (“Shanju”, “we”, “us”), a steel and metal supplier based at Plot 18935, Light Industrial Area, off Chandwe Musonda Road, PO Box 39300, Lusaka, Zambia.

We decide how and why the personal information you share through this website is used, which makes us the data controller for it under the Data Protection Act No. 3 of 2021 of Zambia. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and the choices you have.

02Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Inquiry and quote forms (Contact, Products & Services, Projects & Supply): your name, phone / WhatsApp number, email address, delivery location, the product or service you are interested in, quantities or sizes and your message.
  • Job applications (Careers): your name, phone, email, area of interest, years of experience, your CV and anything you choose to include in it or in your message.
  • Direct contact: anything you send us by WhatsApp, phone, email or social media messages.

Information collected automatically

  • Like most websites, our hosting server records technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time, to keep the site running and secure.
  • Our security protection records the IP address of repeated failed log-in attempts to the website’s admin area to block attacks.

Please do not send us sensitive information we have not asked for, such as NRC or passport numbers, bank details or health information. If your CV contains such details, you may remove them before applying.

03How we use your information

  • To answer your questions and prepare quotations.
  • To process, deliver and follow up on your orders, including arranging transport to your site.
  • To review job applications and contact shortlisted candidates.
  • To provide customer service and keep records of our dealings with you.
  • To keep the website secure and stop spam and misuse.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We will only send you promotional messages, such as price lists or offers, if you have asked us to or agreed to receive them. You can ask us to stop at any time.

05Cookies and third-party services

  • No advertising or tracking cookies. This website does not use advertising cookies or visitor tracking. Website software sets essential cookies only for our staff when they log in to manage the site.
  • Google Maps. Our Contact page shows an embedded Google map. When it loads, Google may collect information such as your IP address and set its own cookies. This is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. If you click our WhatsApp button or social media links, you leave our website and the privacy policy of Meta, which owns these services, applies.
  • Fonts are served from our own server, so no information is sent to font providers.

If we add website analytics in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

06Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only when necessary with:

  • our own staff who need it to serve you;
  • service providers who help us run our business, such as our website hosting and email providers, who must keep it confidential and secure;
  • transport and delivery partners, only the details needed to deliver your order;
  • professional advisers such as accountants, auditors or lawyers; and
  • government authorities, courts or regulators when the law requires it.

07Information stored outside Zambia

Some of our service providers, such as hosting, email and messaging services, may store information on servers outside Zambia. When this happens we take reasonable steps, as required by the Data Protection Act, to make sure your information is given an adequate level of protection.

08How long we keep it

  • Inquiries and quotes: as long as needed to deal with your request and for up to 2 years after our last contact, unless you become a customer.
  • Customer and order records: for the period required by Zambian tax and accounting law.
  • Job applications: up to 12 months after the position is filled, unless you are hired or ask us to keep your CV on file for longer. You may ask us to delete it sooner.
  • Server and security logs: for a short period, normally no more than 90 days.

When information is no longer needed we delete it or make it anonymous.

09How we protect it

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including:

  • encrypted connections (HTTPS / SSL) for the whole website;
  • access to form submissions limited to authorised staff;
  • website security hardening, log-in attack protection and spam filtering; and
  • regular software updates and backups.

No method of sending or storing data online is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information and will act quickly if something goes wrong.

10Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act No. 3 of 2021 you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold information about you and get a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information where we no longer need it;
  • object to, or ask us to limit, how we use your information;
  • withdraw your consent at any time (this does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it); and
  • complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Zambia.

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will reply as soon as we can and within the time allowed by law.

11Children

Our website and services are meant for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and job applicants must be at least 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our website, services or the law change. The latest version will always be on this page with the date it was last updated.
